I think Michigan is officially skipping Spring this year! Where I live, it feels like we haven’t had much of a Spring so far, but have went from colder weather to Summer like temperatures – with lots of rain. Regardless, Spring is one of my favorites times of the year. I love watching everything come alive after the winter and seeing all of the plants in bloom.
My favorites this Spring are very reflective of the things I have been using not only just these last couple of months, but honestly, several of these are LONG time favorites! As the weather changes from cold to warmer, the needs of my skin tend to change, and I like to incorporate exfoliation and hydration (although these elements are present in the winter as well with my dry skin, they are usually more intensive) to help my skin to look less dull and more luminous. I also cut my hair this Spring, taking about six inches off my length! I have been loving it! So hair styling has been much more prevalent for me than usual as I try to figure out how best to style my new shorter hair.

When I talk about long time favorites, my Spring skincare includes one of them, and that is the Honey Love Exfoliator by Leahlani Skincare. This is an incredible 3-in-1 cleanser, mask and exfoliator that truly gives you the softest, even toned skin. It is based in raw Hawaiian honey, so you get wonderful hydration as well as antibacterial properties to keep your skin clear.
The Honey Love is a potent blend of superfood maqui berry, tonifying hibiscus, anti-inflammatory noni fruit, stimulating clays, sweet Hawaiian nectars and microdermabrasion crystals. She will gently yet effectively exfoliate the skin, dramatically improving the tone and texture of your skin while stimulating cellular renewal. – Leahlani Skincare
My favorite way to use Honey Love is as a scrub/mask. One to two nights per week after cleansing, I massage the product into my damp skin (which gives a light exfoliation) and then let it sit on my skin for around 2-3 minutes while I brush my teeth. After rinsing with warm water, my skin always feels plump and oh so smooth. It is truly a must have in my routine. Don’t forget to give it a good stir prior to use to activate the exfoliating crystals, which usually settle at the bottom of the jar.
The three products I cannot stop putting on my face have been staples in my makeup routine since last summer – no joke. I even talked about them on my blog HERE! If you like the look of luminous, fresh and dewy skin for the spring and summer, look no further, because these products will give you just that.
For my base, I love using the W3ll People Bio Tint with SPF 30. Used alone, this product is actually more of a foundation vs. a tinted moisturizer, with a thicker consistency and about a medium coverage. If I use it alone, it doesn’t give a natural look for me, and will tend to stick to blemishes and dry patches, accentuating the areas that I don’t want it to. This is where the Maya Chia The Highlight of the Day in the color ‘Golden Hour’ comes in. This product is a serum highlighter, and added into the Bio Tint gives it the perfect amount of hydration and helps to thin it out just enough, making it easier to apply, and giving a more luminous and blurred appearance on the skin. I like to finish off the look with the RMS Lip2Cheek in the color ‘Spell’. These formulas are based in coconut oil (so not for everyone!) and I find them to sit really nicely on my skin and they just melt in creating a gorgeous dewy finish. This color specifically is one of my absolute favorites. It is a really easy to wear dusty rose nude that provides warmth to my skin giving it a healthy glow. These three definitely give the perfect ‘no makeup’ makeup look!
Actually styling my hair and having it look presentable is new for me! LOL I am used to wearing my hair in ponytails, buns or braids nearly every single day. I have had long long hair for as long as I can remember, and it had become so unmanageable, when I did try to wear it down, it just didn’t look good. So I finally decided to give it a good trim and cut off about 6 inches! It was the best decision! I have been able to style it and wear it down more in the last month and a half than I have in the last five years. (yikes!)
The biggest reason for my hair styling successes has been because of my straightening brush. I had previously been a regular user of a traditional flat iron, but with my hair type – thick, frizzy, wavy and somewhat coarse – it always looked TOO straight and flat. What I have loved about the brush straightener is that it looks so much more natural. It doesn’t completely flatten it down, but it gives my hair a more polished look without flattening all of the volume out. A huge thumbs up!
Prior to styling, I started using the Wonderbalm by EVOLVh, and I have to say, I have been pleasantly surprised. I have never explored this hair care line, mostly because I am not a big fan of their use of some synthetic fragrance in their products (which makes many far too strongly scented for me) and all of their ingredients aren’t super clean. However, it’s hard to argue with a cleaner hair product that actually performs. Unlike many products, I don’t often notice much difference in my hair. When I use the Wonderbalm, especially when I am styling my hair straight, I notice that my hair is smoother, softer and is less frizzy. I have used it both on damp hair prior to styling and as a finishing product after styling, and it works wonderfully both ways for me. It doesn’t weigh down my hair, and this particular product is actually fragrance free!
As a finishing product, I have been loving the Flourish Beauty Lab’s Lavender + Clover Silkening Serum. It is a light weight hair serum with a thinner consistency. It is perfect to use on dry hair after styling to tame any frizz or unruly hairs. I use just a small amount to help smooth my hair as a final step – it smells really good too!
That wraps up my current favorites for the Spring! What products have you been enjoying lately? Make sure to let me know in the comments!
